- You Be The Judge -
During the week of March 16- 19, the NCFCA will hold the National Open Speech and Debate Tournament at Trussville First Baptist Church. Approximately 500 home educated students and their families will travel from all over the country to compete in ten different speech events and two styles of debate. Because the league trains teenagers to communicate with people from all walks of life, we need judges from the community who may or may not have any experience judging speech or debate. Although we also use NCFCA alumni and parents to judge, we depend on the community judge to evaluate the students from a fresh, "every-man" perspective. So NO experience is required.
How You Can Help…
Here’s how: Register today to judge one or more of these events during the tournament. Because the NCFCA is the third largest speech and debate league in the country and has such great student participation, we are faced with the monumental task of finding over one thousand community judges to evaluate our competitors. We need you! In exchange for your three hour commitment, you will be easily instructed by our clear judging orientation, exceptionally well-fed by our fabulous hospitality staff and thoroughly entertained by our incredible speakers!
If you'd like to judge multiple rounds, we'd love to have you. Please be aware your first two events cannot be back to back as you will need time in between to be oriented for your second round. Once you are oriented for both speech and debate, you can judge as many events as you would like.
To Sign Up Now…
Simply click the register button at the top or bottom of this page and register to judge one or more events. After you have registered, will you please forward this website address to a friend and ask them to join you for this wonderful event? Honestly, we could not provide such an important, enriching experience for our students without you. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
